Narcissist-in-chief: Enough about the Berlin Wall, let’s talk about me instead.

Barack Obama couldn’t even be bothered to turn up to Berlin to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Perhaps he was too busy making crass sexual jokes about anti-big government protestors:

According to Representative Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, who supports the health care bill, the president asked, “Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support them if they bring down health care? All it will do is confuse and dispirit” Democratic voters “and it will encourage the extremists.”

Obama instead spoke by video link to Berlin and said this:

November 9, 1989, will always be remembered and cherished in the United States. Like so many Americans, I will never forget the images of people tearing down the wall. There could be no clearer rebuke of tyranny, there could be no stronger affirmation of freedom.

Few would have foreseen… that a united Germany would be led by a woman from (the east German state) Brandenburg or that their American ally would be led by a man of African descent. But human destiny is what human beings make of it.

It’s all about him remember. He’s “the one”.

In other news, protestors in Tehran have been heard shouting “Obama! Obama! Either you’re with them or you’re with us”. Obama says he wants a relationship with the Iranian regime based on “mutual interests and mutual respect”. As Jay Nordlinger asks: what is there to respect about the Iranian regime?

George W. Bush would have known whose side he was on.
